Photo of the Week: Dusk at Bosque del Apache

Dusk at Bosque del Apache, Photo by Steve Collins

Bosque del Apache is a birder’s paradise. Located  along the Rio Grande River southeast Socorro, NM it’s a must for any serious birder.. Ample ponds coupled with abundant food make it an ideal wintering habitat for hundreds of varieties of birds including snow geese, sandhill cranes, marsh and water birds,  raptors and many others. The cranes and geese are at the Bosque from around mid-November to mid-February. The fly out at dawn and return at sunset. The Visitor’s Center is open on Weekdays from 7:30am too 4pm and weekends from 8am to 4:30pm.
