Tinkertown Photo of the week: quirky Tinkertown

The blaclsmith at Tinkertown photo Steve Collins

Every old west town had a blacksmith- here’s the one at Tinkertown Museum photo/ Steve Collins

Tinkertown Museum in Sandia Park, about an hour south of Santa Fe, NM,  is a quirky feast for the eyes. Miniature vignettes of life in the old days and an amazing collection of Americana fill the meandering rooms here. The village smithy is part of the  19th century western town recreated by the late artist, Ross Ward. The details in Ward’s carvings and dioramas are intricate. fascinating and sometimes kinetic. The post about our visit there went live yesterday. After it was scheduled, we discovered today’s topic on the popular Twitter feature #FriFotos was #museums. We love synching our photos with them and that made Tinkertown the perfect photo for this week.
