Abiquiu northwest of Santa Fe is home to Abiquiu Lake photo Steve Collins

Abiquiu Lake, Abiquiu NM, photo/Steve Collins

Abiquiu Lake is about 60 miles NW of Santa Fe, between Abiquiu and Ghost Ranch. Ir was formed by damming the Rio Chama and provides a cool respite during hot New Mexico summers. Camping, boating, fishing and other water recreation are very popular activities here. Abiquiu Lake sits in the shadow of Georgia O’Keeffe’s beloved Cerro Pedernal. Do you have a favorite New Mexico lake?

Abiquiu is famous for being the home of artist Georgia O’Keeffe. She lived at both Ghost Ranch and her home in the small village which is now open seasonally for tours.
