Santa Fe’s historic El Rey Inn was built in 1936 the year before the course of Rt. 66 was changed to follow present day I-40 directly across NM bypassing The City Different. That’s a story to be told at another time. El Rey, on five landscaped acres, has had numerous additions over the years. To visit the property is to take a trip in time back to the days of motor courts. This wagon is under a portal in front of a 1950s addition to the historic inn.
