Renowned architect Frank Lloyd Wright entertained many famous people and mentored students and others from a winter base at Taliesin West in Scottsdale, AZ. He built the compound at the foot of the McDowell Mountains overlooking Paradise Valley as his winter headquarters in 1938. In keeping with his belief that buildings should blend into the landscape structures are built of native stone and local woods. Petrogyph stones found on the property are incorporated into the landscaping. The huge living room has built-ins and other furniture Wright designed. Accessories are Asoan and American Indian pottery and two assemblages by writer and later ambassador Clare Booth Luce hang on walls at one end of the room. Decor is sparse and mostly functional. We toured the house, the drafting studio, Wright’s office and the grounds with architect Arnold Roy who studied under Wright. Taliesin West offers a range of tours.

I really enjoyed the tour a Taliesin West. The architecture is interesting as is the story of Frank Lloyd Wright and the evolution of the place. Fascinating the blend of architecture and landscape.

I agree. Now we just have to get to Taliesin and some of the prairie house.

How nice this room is! These handmade items are used in that is incredible and imaginative. Really this photo is so nice and makes a sense about home decoration.
